When I first started out trading I was a mortgage broker. I got interested in trading because I saw how the bond market affected the interest rates. I learned how to determine whether or not interest rates would be going up or down.
This gave me a significant edge over my competitors and it made me a lot of money that I would not have otherwise made.
The first trading seminar that I went to cost me $5,500 so I know what it is like to spend money on my trading education. The thing is that I like so many new traders got sucked into the hype.
I know you know what I am talking about. I’m talking about the gltiz and galmour and false advertising that surrounds this industry.
I learned quickly how to identify the false “trading gurus” and it saved me a lot of money in the long run. Whether I become your mentor or not I don’t want you to go through the same mistakes I did, so I want to give you some simple steps to identify false “trading gurus”. Here are a few and I outline the rest in my monthly f.r.e.e. training webinars, which you will be invited too.
1. They don’t trade the live markets in front of you. When I finally found a good mentor they not only taught me a system, but they allowed me to “look over their shoulder” while they made real trades. I have always said, that if someone can’t show me how it works in real-time, then they can’t really do it. It is easy for someone to go back on a chart and cherry pick a few trades here and there, but how about when the pressure of the trade is on? If the guru doesn’t have some kind of a live trading platform, aske them ‘why not’.
2. They do not provide valuable, actionable, free teaching, that allows you to get started. If I can implement and test what somoene is giving away for free, and it is good, I know their paid information is going to be really good. Mosyt trading gurus can’t give away stuff that works, because they are a one trick pony.
3. They use a lot of emotional stories to pull in new traders. Sure, emotionalism sells, but do you want to be moved by emotions or do you want to have the stability of a real life professional who has been tested and proven with results to back it up?
I have had three different real trading mentors during my career. Their $39 hard back books provided more value than most $2,000 trading courses and that is usually how you can spot the real life trading mentors. They are not interested in selling thousands of courses and having 3,000 students a year, because they know they would be cheating thier students.
